Pepe Nero is a small independent Italian Restaurant located in the beautiful Stockbridge area of Edinburgh. On a Sunday its perfectly located for a bite to eat after exploring the Stockbridge Market which is just along from the Restaurant. There are also lots of other bars nearby to carry on your evening after your meal
The Food
Firstly I loved the menu, there is a large selection of hot and cold starters and then a pizza and pasta menu which has something for everyone (they also do smaller plates for Children on request). I was starving and the food looked delicious so for starters I opted for Prosciutto e rughetta (a delicious slice of homemade bread topped with parma ham, rocket and Parmesan) which was tasty and yet not too filling. My friend opted for the Focaccia which was a massive portion and saw us through the pasta dishes too.
For mains we chose the Scoglio (Spaghetti with King Prawns and Rocket) and Spaghetti Carbonara. We both thoroughly enjoyed these dishes with the King Prawns cooked perfectly and the Carbonara had a cream sauce which coated the pasta perfectly but wasn't too heavy!
Although we were both stuffed from the generous size of the starter and main, I can never resist a look at the dessert menu. The dessert menu had all the classics but we both chose the Sicilian Cannoli to finish with a cuppa.
The AF alternatives
OK so there was not a huge selection of AF alternatives which wasn't so much of a surprise to me - Italians love wine and I get that. For AF alternatives they had a 0% Peroni and some different flavours of both Franklin and Sons and San Pellegrino so you should be able to find something to accompany the meal!
